Handle from Boston Dynamics ditches walking around for bipedal wheels
Boston Dynamics has made some amazing robots in the last while, but Handle is pretty amazing. While other robots spend a lot of energy on walking around, Handle wheels in and out like a segway rider.
Being on wheels doesn’t mean the robot is not in control, though. Unlike putting me on skates, the robot can control where its hands are, carry up to 45kg and jump over obstacles. The wheels operate independently, allowing Handle to cover rough terrain like hills and stairs.
Handle would work perfectly in a warehouse, or anywhere else needing equipment moved from one spot to another a fair distance away.
