Now your fingerprints can be stolen by flashing peace signs in selfies

Selfie fraud
If you wanted to take a selfie and casually flash a peace sign to your camera to act cool, then think again. You could have your fingerprints and identity stolen as fraudsters are now able to lift your fingerprints from your photos due to the high res images modern smart devices take these days.

Isao Echizen, a professor at the Digital Content and Media Sciences Research Division of the National Institute of Informatics performed a test and obtained fingerprints from photos of exposed fingers taken from up to three meters away.

The professor warned that with the right software it would not be hard to lift someone’s fingerprint from a selfie. So next time you think about throwing up a gang sign of any kind think again, you could just fall victim to identity fraud.
